About

I create with anything that is available. Materials range from Elm, from the Dutch Elm-diseased trees cut down in Herbert Park, to the very dense Guyanese Greenheart laurel, salvaged from the old harbour walls in DunLaoghaire. The Greenheart was harvested over 120 years ago from what was then British Guyana, a colony on the north-east of South America. Though difficult to carve, it is ideal for open-air sculpture as it almost everlasting. 

Small blocks of Bath stone from a demolished building in Pearse Street have provided a medium for intricately detailed work. Bog oak or bog yew from Forenaught in Co. Waterford and Wicklow granite give a connection with the distant past.
