I work in wood, cement, clay, stone and bronze. Most of my pieces now involve stone. I get great satisfaction from turning a block of stone into an idea or emotion I have felt, or being inspired to create something suggested by the material itself. The sculptures are largely representative/ figurative. Pieces vary in size from approximately 15x15x15cms to 180x90x90cms.
It can take hours and hours of blocking out, carving and then sanding and polishing with beeswax to get the required finish. I hope the end result is visually satisfying, involves you mentally and invites you to touch and feel it.
